Gerrit van der Meer is a film and television producer from the Netherlands, though based in Hollywood since the 1990s. His first major gig was acting as supervising producer on the '89 drama "Forced March," starring Chris Sarandon as an American actor who lands a job playing a real-life Hungarian Jewish poet who died during the Holocaust. During the course of filming, the actor attempts to turn his character into something he was not in reality, a futile attempt to change the historical facts. Van der Meer also served as associate producer on the Barry Levinson comedy "Jimmy Hollywood," starring Joe Pesci as a down-and-out-actor who never got his big break and resorts to exposing criminal behavior in his dangerous neighborhood with the assistance of his loveable but idiotic friend, played by Christian Slater. He teamed up with director Levinson again on the dark drama "Sleepers," starring Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Patric, and Brad Pitt. Van der Meer also worked as a producer on the television drama "Felicity" and is an executive producer on the medical drama "House M.D."
